Following an entertaining halloween, we move into the penultimate month of 2017 with the return of one of hip hop’s finest groups. After seven years, the Pharrell Williams featuring N.E.R.D. return with a new single, Lemon, which features the one and only Rihanna. Making a move for album of the year this week is the hugely talented Sam Smith, who releases his second studio record The Thrill Of It All, three years after the release of his world-conquering debut.
July. For many it’s a chance to enjoy the rare sight of sun or the unpredictably chaotic summer holidays with children. For music fans, July has always been a month of big summer anthems, festivals and new records. This July is no different, with a stunning selection of huge tracks perfect for long summer nights or that rare unexpected day of rain that the UK summer is always akin to. There’s a consistent sense of wonder each year around this time at the end of July which is a wonder of how quickly the year is going. As we move further into the second half of 2017, we can truly say that we can’t wait for what is to come. To say that we have had some incredible music releases already is merely an understatement and the next few months promise massive releases from some of the world’s biggest artists. This week sees music’s most loved alternative band Arcade Fire return with their fifth studio album Everything Now whilst leading the singles releases are The Killers who release Run For Cover.

As the first week of July comes to an end, it’s safe to say that the summer has truly started. We’ve already had a sensational Glastonbury plus whole list of further celebrations and this week’s new music continues to celebrate the best that music has to offer. What better to celebrate than with the rightful return of Kesha, an artist who has been through such a hard time over the last few years. She releases track Praying whilst superstar DJ Zedd teams up with former One Direction member Liam Payne for Get Low.
Chance The Rapper, Skepta and The Weeknd will headline the Finsbury Park Festival.
