As October comes to an end, we’re full of anticipation for the Halloween weekend as well as the start of November. It’s astonishing to think that we’ve been running for nearly ten months already. It’s one of the truest cliche’s around but time really does fly when you’re doing the things you love, and for us, being able to review some of the best new music around has been an absolute pleasure. Closing October in style this week is the brilliant Selena Gomez, who teams up with superstar DJ Marshmello on latest single Wolves whilst the stunning Plan B brings out Heartbeat.
In the midst of the chaotic crisis that’s occurring across the Atlantic in the Caribbean, the US and Mexico, we often reflect on our fortunate geographical location and think how things could be very different were we to be in another place in the world. A band, who have suffered their own fair share of battles, both physically and mentally, are The Killers, the Las Vegas rock giants who return this week with a beautifully honest record in Wonderful Wonderful, an album which highlights the significant holes in the band’s relationships with each other as well as in their own lives.
It always seems to amaze us here at The Music Radar UK when we realise that we are compiling the final brilliant mix of tracks from a certain month. This week, we say adieu to August, a month which whilst might not have been hot in temperature, was hot for many other reasons, noticeably the amount of brilliant new artists that have emerged from the shadows to claim some light for their own. As some of the world’s most revered bands, singers, acts and DJ’s display staggering sets across the fields of Reading, Leeds, Creamfields, SW4, Victorious and many more festivals this bank holiday weekend, we can only wish that you have the best of times. Some of the artists on display this weekend have released new tracks this week and whether or not you have managed to hear them, we have some of them reviewed for you right here, so fear not, have a rest to pass the hangover of the last night and enjoy this week’s selection of Tracks of the Week.
It’s astounding to believe that we are nearing the end of not just another month but another season. With stunning weather over a month ago, the summer kicked off in style with huge anthems and as we prepare for the chaotic even that is Reading & Leeds festival this weekend, we are constantly reminded of 2017’s glorious releases from artists across the line up. Leading the way this week is a rock band that can only be described as titanic. Having headlined Reading & Leeds themselves in 2014, Queens of the Stone Age release their highly anticipated seventh album Villains upon a heap of rumours that they are going to perform a secret set at Reading today.
Another week and another list of new music to satisfy our craving. alt-J continue their preparation ahead of next week’s album release with the release of Adeline whilst Little Mix release a new track, Power, which sees the group collaborating with grime king Stormzy. Rita Ora makes a return to music for the first time since 2015 with Your Song.
Who can predict when and where new talent is going to come from? This week has seen the return of some of the world’s most revered artists but this has almost been overlooked by the sheer quality of releases from up and coming talent from around the world. Here are our track’s of the week with in depth reviews.
