July. For many it’s a chance to enjoy the rare sight of sun or the unpredictably chaotic summer holidays with children. The final handpicked selection of new music from June signals an incredible six months since we first began reviewing and showcasing new music to you all. We couldn’t have imagined that we would be where we are right now and we are so grateful to have such a brilliant following. Most of all, we feel it’s important to mention just how sensational the music of the past six months has been. As it’s the first day of the legendary Glastonbury Festival, we can all be forgiven if we take our eyes away from this week’s new music releases to focus on the action in Somerset. However, there are some stunning new releases that we feel you should definitely give a listen to. After all, if you take your eye off the ball for a week, who knows what you could miss out on. A huge list of new releases were given to us this week, highlighting the quality of both artists and producers that we currently have. With the heat of May continuing, some of the tracks we’ve highlighted are perfect for a May barbecue whilst others are just beautiful to relax to. The first batch of music releases each month is always exciting but perhaps none of them will be as important as this week’s list of new material. August signifies the start of a shift in the release style of material and as the days grow shorter, the music of both August and September tend to play a big role in everyone’s lives. Leading the way this week are Everything Everything who release Desire ahead of the upcoming release of A Fever Dream.
There’s a consistent sense of wonder each year around this time at the end of July which is a wonder of how quickly the year is going. As we move further into the second half of 2017, we can truly say that we can’t wait for what is to come. To say that we have had some incredible music releases already is merely an understatement and the next few months promise massive releases from some of the world’s biggest artists. This week sees music’s most loved alternative band Arcade Fire return with their fifth studio album Everything Now whilst leading the singles releases are The Killers who release Run For Cover.
