New Music Friday in Brief 24/02/17: Coldplay, Calvin Harris, Stormzy and more

A few days after the Brit Awards, we are treated this week to a brilliant collection of new music and surprisingly a lot of collaborations. Coldplay and The Chainsmokers treat us to their collaboration Something Just Like This whilst Calvin Harris returns with a huge collaboration with Frank Ocean and Migos on Slide.

This week finally sees the release of Stormzy’s debut album Gang Signs & Prayer, an album which if it matches the hype it’s received in the last few months, could dominate 2017. Jason Derulo returns with Swalla, a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign. Another huge collaboration this week comes from superstar DJ Zedd and the wonderful Alessia Cara who team up on Stay.

The 1975 release their WarChild supportive track By Your Side whilst Meghan Trainor releases I’m a Lady from the SMURFS movie. This week also sees the return of two major band’s from the 1990’s and early 2000’s with Spoon releasing Can I Sit Next To You and Ride releasing Home Is A Feeling.

We are treated to wonderful new music from The Big Moon who release their recorded version of classic track Sucker whilst Wilkinson releases We Will Be. Upcoming US artist gnash releases track Lonely Again.

Alongside Stormzy’s Gang Signs & Prayer, album releases this week also come from brilliant US indie band Hippo Campus with landmark, Thundercat with Drunk and THEY. with Nu Religion: HYENA.
